Thank You Molly

>> Saturday, October 25, 2008

It's our first year anniversary. Today, one year ago, we both said "I do"...(well that's what we would have said if we weren't Bruneians. :)

I'm so thankful to have you and to be a part of your life. Sometimes I don't feel I deserve to have someone as patient, kind, generous and beautiful as you.

*************************************************************************************
I don't think you will
ever fully understand
how you've touched my life
and made me who I am.

I don't think you could ever know
just how truly special you are
that even on the darkest nights
you are my brightest star.

I don't think you will ever fully comprehend
how you've made my dreams come true
or how you've opened my heart
to love and the wonders it can do.

You've allowed me to experience
something very hard to find
unconditional love that exists
in my body, soul, and mind.

I don't think you could ever feel
all the love I have to give
and I'm sure you'll never realize
you've been my will to live.

You are an amazing person
and without you I don't know where I'd be.
Having you in my life
completes and fulfills every part of me

Love you Hun. You will always be my 'Cinderella'

(because you love shoes...hehe)

ASEAN Badminton Tourney

I joined the ASEAN badminton tourney held at the Erindale Centre. The tournament was organised by The Brunei and Lao Embassy. The format was for Men's doubles, Women's doubles and Men's Executive doubles. It started at 9.30am (why?!!) and finished around 2pm.

We were paired to other countries and I got an Indonesian partner, Mr. Bapak Meri Binsar.

And we won 2nd place!!! Sweet!

Stopping by Amy's house

>> Sunday, October 19, 2008

It turned out we still had one more open house to go. One of the local engaged staff invited us yesterday evening. The house was very cozy and it was kinda cool to have the dinner on the porch. It felt like a dining in a fancy restaurant.

We're no. 2!!!

>> Tuesday, October 14, 2008

How cool is this news. An article on www.news.com.au recently (more like yesterday hehe) stated that a list compiled by Flight Centre on the Top 10 Where to Go Places have placed Brunei Darussalam as its no. 2 destination. Not Singapore or Malaysia or Thailand...but US!

A big thumbs up to the people in the tourism sector. It's news like these that I hope the Government would increase their efforts in promoting Brunei. And us, the people need to do our part also in supporting this campaign.

Illegal Taxis

>> Sunday, October 12, 2008

I read this piece of article on Brudirect. The title is obvious. What surprised me was that it has became 'rampant' as of late. I remember illegal taxis or 'taxi sapu' was quite an issue a few years back.

The article is here.

Back then the story was more focused on legal taxi drivers vs illegal taxi drivers. I know most of us don't use public transportation but still there is a small percentage that does. It also got me thinking about why people would be willing to go in these illegal taxis. I'm sure none of us would be willing to do it overseas. So, why should we be willing to do it in our own country. Think of the implications of stepping into one. First and foremost would be safety. I know that companies running the transportation business needs to take up insurance for the drivers and the passengers. Second is the condition of their vehicles. Just how safe is the ride you're riding in?

And what if the law catches up to you? Is it really worth it?

The time we went to Homeart

>> Friday, October 10, 2008

This actually happened on the first day of Raya. I kind of just remembered it when I saw it in our store room. Since we didn't have any open houses to go to on the 1st day we thought we'd drive off to the Hyperdome in Tuggeranong.

The missus stopped by Homeart. One of those home decor shops and saw this rack filled with candle holders and a sign that says "All original price NOW $8". The thing is, usually they'd have a separate label/sticker on the boxes that will show the original price and the discount price. The candle holder that she was interested in was labeled $29.90 and after discount was $15. Another set of boxes next to it with a different design did indeed show that after discount it was $8. So, we asked the store attendant. This is roughly how it went:

Me: "Hi, could you check the price of this item"
S.A: "Yes, it's $15"
Me: "Oh? 'Cos it was it was placed in the $8 rack"
S.A looked over the conter to see where the boxes were placed: "Did you want to get these mate?"
Me: "Hmmm"
S.A: "No worries, I'll sell it to you for $8 'cos it was our mistake"
The Missus: "YES, we actually wanted 3"
S.A: "No problem"

You see!!?? You don't get that kind of service back home. Why is that? How come the shops in Brunei do not practice "The customers are always right...even when they're wrong" LoL. Ok, maybe the last part was a bit much.

But you get my point. How many times have you actually argued with shop attendants or shop keepers back in Brunei. I guess the mentality that we practice is still "If I lose this customer, there are still others". Which is a shame 'cos we really should make an effort to upgrade our level of service. I know some shops sound sooo 'friendly' in the first 2 or 3 months that they're open. Then after that, it's like their courtesy never even existed.

Then again, just because customers are always right doesn't mean we have to be rude as well. I do believe that what comes around goes around.

Hearing this, my Mom-in-law grabbed the remaining 4 boxes and yes, it was still $8 each. Hehe.

Alisha's Trip to the Doctor

>> Thursday, October 9, 2008

Yesterday was Alisha's appointment with her Doc. We took this pic before we left the house.

This was her reaction when we told her we're taking her to her see her Doc...LoL. No lah, I think she was annoyed by the hood.

So to our family back in Brunei, Alisha is doing well. The Doctor said so! She's 5.11 kg now and 60cm in length...and throws a tantrum (*raises my hand* she got that from me) when she wants to sleep.

Other than that, being so free during the day I made some collages of my fav pics of Alisha.

Alisha's first Open house visit

Last Friday was Alisha's first official Hari Raya gathering. For the good part of the time we were there, she wasn't in a good mood cos her 'Kaka Zeyan' kept on pinching her cheeks.

A special "Thank You" to Ak. Zamri for sharing these lovely pics with us.

She was so tired after that, but it was fun bringing her out.
