Breakfast at Yarralumla

>> Sunday, July 26, 2009

We went out to Yarralumla for breakfast last Saturday. There's this little place called the Turkish Halal Pide House which serves one of the best pides and kebabs. Most probably the one food that we're going to miss when we leave here.

Flash Mob

>> Thursday, June 18, 2009

I just read this over at Senor Pablo's blog. It's a flash mob organized by Ben Stone & Friends. I've been following this type of event lately as more and more people are doing it. I think its great that one is being organized in Brunei. It's just one of those things I'd love to participate just to see people's reaction.

There was one such event held by Nuffnang for Singapore bloggers. You can read it here. It wasn't a success or failure at the same time. The thing with flash mob is that they are suppose to be planned and executed with minimal media coverage. The aim could be for anything from experimental to creating awareness to promoting creativity. The amount of people participating has to be a lot I guess, hence the word 'mob'. The problem with the Singapore blogger's flash mob is that a majority of them are very well known. Thus when they blogged about it, the media was also reading and preparing for it as well. This took out the surprise element.

Anyway I salute the guys organizing it and I can't wait to read or watch it(if it's available). In the meantime here are 2 of my fav flash mob organized in the U.S. I'm sure you've all seen the first video. Cheers.

We decided to take out Alisha on her new bike that mommy bought for her. We went to the nearby playground and she made new friends. She's always making new friends. I guess she takes it after mommy.

Alisha in Gold Coast

>> Saturday, May 30, 2009

Location: Gold Coast, Brisbane
Date: 25th May - 29th May 2009

We just got back from the Gold Coast. Spent 5 days there. The weather was a nice change compared to Canberra. We rented a car because it was easier to get around(especially for the shopping LOL).

Unfortunately Alisha is a big fan of Disney so there wasn't any Mickey Mouse for her to gawk at. Maybe next time we'll drop by Disney World in Hong Kong. In the meantime if you want to view the whole album click here.

Royal Canberra Show

>> Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Location: Exhibition Park,
Mitchell, Canberra

Duration: 27th Feb - 1st March 2009

Last week we went to see what the Royal Canberra Show was all about. Entrance was AUD 20 for adults. Was it worth it? I guess it would, if we had been a little bit prepared for it. To say the place was big, is an understatement. Imagine a funfair that covers the entire sports & recreation area around the Brunei National Stadium(including all the other venues like indoor stadium, hockey stadium etc).

There was a lot of activities to do there. From rides to animal shows to vendors selling all sorts of stuff.

Doughnuts...freaking huge and yummy!!

Location: Brunei Embassy, Canberra
Date: Sunday, 22nd February 2009

On the eve of our National Day we held Maghrib Prayer at the Embassy led by Pg. Ismail. As Bruneians who are currently living abroad nothing beats the comfort of our homeland. We are all thankful for the peace and prosperity that we have enjoyed for these blessed 25 years and we hope it will last for many more years to come.
