Watching the Christmas Show

>> Wednesday, December 31, 2008

When we were in Melbourne we visited the Crown Hotel. There was a Christmas show for the public. Alisha was mesmerized by the show...
though she managed to yawn. Poor Alisha, I guess she was tired but she was a trooper. Hehe.

Alisha's New Haircut

>> Thursday, December 25, 2008

One clipper, one to hold her, another to distract her and I was all set. We decided to shave off Alisha's hair because we never got a chance right after she was born. I think I did a decent job of it.

Cuddling up to her "Chombi" after the haircut...so sweet.

Weston Park

As it turns out there is a nice park not far from where we live. To top it off you also get to see a lot of Kangaroos. The place is called Weston Park, located on a peninsula on the western side of Lake Burley Griffin. The pics below was when my in-laws visited us 2 weeks ago.

Also I've noticed that this site takes a bit of time to upload due to the pics on the main page. So I've reduced the no. of posts to 2.

Canberra to Sydney

>> Wednesday, December 10, 2008

I haven't had much time to update the blog lately because we were busy with our In-laws. They were here for two weeks and we spent a great deal bringing them out and about. The highlight of their visit was when we spent two nights in Sydney. This was before they left for Brunei.

We decided to drive there and rented a 12 seater mini-bus. It was fun!!! Although with the amount of luggage it felt like a 7 seater. Hehe.

Graduation

>> Thursday, December 4, 2008

We were invited to attend a Graduation Ceremony by Major Asnah. It took place today at the Australian Defence Force Academy.

It was a long walk to the hall so we stop for pics...

I couldn't get a good pic 'cos we were't allowed to go near the stage.

Hmmm...something is wrong with this pic...who was the one who graduated here???

Nothing to do with the Graduation...just something we saw on the way home. And NO, I wasn't driving...hehe

Missy Higgins - Where I stood

>> Wednesday, November 19, 2008

One of the most emotional, feminine, honest song I've heard in a long time. Her live version on the Tonight Show(above) was awesome.

"Where I Stood"

I don't know what I've done
Or if I like what I've begun
But something told me to run
And honey you know me it's all or none

There were sounds in my head
Little voices whispering
That I should go and this should end
Oh and I found myself listening

'Cos I don't know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

See I thought love was black and white
That it was wrong or it was right
But you ain't leaving without a fight
And I think I am just as torn inside

'Cos I don't know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

And I won't be far from where you are if ever you should call
You meant more to me than anyone I ever loved at all
But you taught me how to trust myself and so I say to you
This is what I have to do

'Cos I dont know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood
Oh, she who dares to stand where I stood

Dobinsons

>> Wednesday, November 12, 2008

There's this delicious little bakery located in the city called Dobinsons. For some reason, Molly and myself have been addicted to its Fruit Salad Flan or Fruit Tarts. Well, for me I've always loved fruit tarts so no surprises there.

The tarts are of generous sizes which is good 'cos lets face it, I don't like sharing LoL. The best part of the fruit tart is that there's a thin layer of chocolate at the base of the crust. Yummy.

Let's go picnik-ing!

>> Sunday, November 9, 2008

At picnik.com that is. Picnik is an online photo editor which I have been using for quite some time. I was looking for a good photo editor back then and to be honest I can't be bothered with Photoshop. I just wanted a beginner-just-one-click-will-do-the-job editor.

These are the details about the website:

Membership:

-FREE (You do know I won't subscribe or use it unless its free!) but for some reason I'm so tempted to join the Premium *sigh*

OR

-Upgrade to Premium

Features:

Taken from their website

"What can I do with Picnik? Pretty much everything! We've got amazing Edit tools that can fix just about anything that could possibly go wrong with a photograph. Lacking photo-editing prowess? A bunch of our editing tools are one-click fixes, including auto- fix, exposure, colors, and red-eye. And the others, like rotate, crop, resize, and sharpening, can be controlled with easy-to-use sliders. Move over to the Create tab and you'll see our custom-made Effects (most of which have the ability to be painted into just the areas of your image where you want them), an awesome text tool with dozens of fonts, dozens of shapes, including seasonal shapes for holidays and events, and some super customizable frames. Not to mention the touch up tools and new Advanced Editing tools."

Below are just some samples I did using the site:

So, if you're like me, why not?

Family & Community Day

>> Tuesday, November 4, 2008

It's a public holiday today in the Australian Capital. They are celebrating Family & Community day. This holiday started last year and is held on the first Tuesday of November. The idea of this holiday is to foster quality time for workers to spend with their families. Coincidentally today is also the Melbourne Cup Day(Horse Racing).

My family and I went out and it was so quiet. The shops closed earlier than usual and they weren't many people around. We went to this d.i.y shop called Bunnings Warehouse and I saw some of the staffs were actually sitting and watching the Melbourne Cup. I guess they just love horses or betting...hehe.

Burn!!

>> Saturday, November 1, 2008

I haven't had time to blog lately. I was too caught up with playing Star Wars TFU on the Wii. But after 12hours of playing it(not in one sitting and without using cheat codes), I've am pretty much done with the game. Unless, of course, I have someone to play it with in combat mode.

And now, the fun part. I downloaded the game from Torrent. LoL. Although I disapprove of doing this illegal act *cough* *liar* *cough*, please buy original games kids! During this process I came about and downloaded a burner software called ImgBurn. The software is free and it works great. I was having a bit of a problem burning my image to DVD especially since my image was close to 4.5GB. I have Roxio as my Burner software(which sucks BIG time!) and kept doing errors while burning the dvd. I read a couple of the forums and it suggested that I try this software(ImgBurn) and using a Verbatim dvd.

I tried the software and used a blank Sony dvd-R( yes, i never learn) and the software worked but the disc didn't read too well. It kept jamming my dvd-rom. So I went out and got some Verbatim blank dvds and this solved the problem I was having.

So, if you're sick and tired of using Nero or like me, Roxio, have a go at this software.

JayJays

JayJays is a local clothes outlet and kind of reminds me of the Giordano outlet back home. Not that I'm a fan of Giordano(especially the one in Kiulap). Anyhow, this shop is decent in terms of price and selection. I especially like it if they're selling those vintage/retro t-shirts. For example they'd have a Transformers t-shirt but it looks kinda faded and the design is really old school.

Total: AUD 30 for 3 shirts.

Once, I even bought a shirt with a pic of Pacman...cool rite??!!

Thank You Molly

>> Saturday, October 25, 2008

It's our first year anniversary. Today, one year ago, we both said "I do"...(well that's what we would have said if we weren't Bruneians. :)

I'm so thankful to have you and to be a part of your life. Sometimes I don't feel I deserve to have someone as patient, kind, generous and beautiful as you.

*************************************************************************************
I don't think you will
ever fully understand
how you've touched my life
and made me who I am.

I don't think you could ever know
just how truly special you are
that even on the darkest nights
you are my brightest star.

I don't think you will ever fully comprehend
how you've made my dreams come true
or how you've opened my heart
to love and the wonders it can do.

You've allowed me to experience
something very hard to find
unconditional love that exists
in my body, soul, and mind.

I don't think you could ever feel
all the love I have to give
and I'm sure you'll never realize
you've been my will to live.

You are an amazing person
and without you I don't know where I'd be.
Having you in my life
completes and fulfills every part of me

*************************************************************************************
*************************************************************************************
Love you Hun. You will always be my 'Cinderella'

(because you love shoes...hehe)
